Mission Statement

Church of the Good Shepherd Southtowns is a gathering of people committed to serving and worshiping Jesus Christ. It is a newly founded church, connecting the ancient traditions of the church to life today, which includes:

Real Fellowship,

Ancient Worship,

and Reformed Theology.

And as we grow in depth as a community, we want our church to be a place where people are coming to put their trust in Jesus and follow Him as Lord.

Real Fellowship

Church isn't an event to attend, but a community to belong to. We are launching a church in the Southtowns that experiences real fellowship through life together in community.

Ancient Worship

Where our worship, rooted in the great historic tradition of the church, is focused on glorifying God.

Reformed Theology

Where each person is formed into the image of Christ through the faithful teaching of the Scriptures.

What we believe

We are a creedal and confessional church. We profess the three historic creeds of the Church—the Apostles’, Nicene, and Athanasian—as articulating the fundamentals of biblical doctrine. We also hold to the doctrine expressed in the Anglican confession, The Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion.

We believe:

  • In one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father and His future return in power and glory.

  • In the Bible as the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God; the standard by which all doctrine and authority must be tested and approved; the measure of Christian faith and life.

  • In man as the image-bearer of God yet fallen in sin and in need of a Savior.

  • In salvation through Jesus Christ and regeneration by the Holy Spirit which results in repentance and faith in the believer.

  • In justification by faith alone, through grace alone, because of Christ alone, for the glory of God alone.

  • In the indwelling of the Holy Spirit which enables the Christian to lead a godly life.

  • In a bodily resurrection of life for the saved and a resurrection of damnation for the lost.

  • In both the necessity of the visible Church and the invisible spiritual unity of believers in Jesus Christ.

  • We acknowledge and profess God’s creation of human beings as male and female and the unchangeable standard of Christian marriage between one man and one woman as the only proper place for sexual intimacy and the basis of the family.
